Songs of the oracles and poets of the Mediterranean.
Paris, Lavoir Moderne Parisien, Saturday July 11
As part of the event [Me]tissage, on Saturday July 11th 2009,
8 p.m. at Lavoir Moderne Parisien, Paris, the cultural Association
Mémoire de l’Avenire presents a recital by Roula Safar
(mezzo-soprano, guitar and percussions), accompanied by Jasser Haj
Joussef (violin and viola). "A history of Lebanon, from Sacred
to Poetry": beyond political and religious divisions, the program
is designed to listen to the voices of the Mediterranean, from the
oldest to the contemporary ones. The choice of the music reflects
the same diversity, through the alternation of traditional, Baroque
and contemporary music. Roula Safar, native of the Mediterranean country,
which was that of the Phoenicians, explorers of unknown lands and
inventors of alphabets, researches the voices of the origins: the
first devotions for the gods, but also those voices who tried since
the ancient times to analyse the mysteries of the world, and tried
to make their echoes audible, through poetry. The program leads the
public through the ages and languages of the Mediterranean, describing
the origins, to better understand our present.
