Love Difference Club in Palazzolo: Love Difference Carpets and Pastries on display, 22 November – 24 December 2009
On Sunday 22 November the exhibition "Love Difference carpets and pastries" will open at the L.D. Club in Palazzolo sull’Oglio (Brescia, Italy). After the Love Difference Table, Michelangelo Pistoletto and Love Difference created a new symbol of relationship and creative cooperation: a series of rugs made by hand, during creative workshops on the theme of the Mediterranean as commonplace. Each carpet reproduces - with different techniques and materials - the design of the Mediterranean Sea by Michelangelo Pistoletto. Subjects and materials are defined from time to time by the workshop participants. Thus the carpets become space for relationships, sharing and dialogue.
The first 10 carpets were made by artisans of El Max, a small fishing village, once deserted outskirts of Alexandria in Egypt and now a livable neighborhood, where there was a new social peace, where the other and the public space are respected. Men and women who made the Love Difference carpets have been collaborating for over ten years with the artists' collective Gudran, for the social recovery of El Max through artistic and cultural projects, through the constant organisation of activities for women, children and teenagers, such as crafts workshops and free-software courses, in addition to several events at cafes. Love Difference is working with Gudran since 2005, realising workshops on the dissemination of participated creative practices. Earnings from the sale of carpets will support the activities of Love Difference and Gudran.
The exhibition will be open every Saturday until Christmas, 4 to 6 p.m. or by appointment.
