EPIM: new call for proposals for European NGOs. Deadline for grant applications: 31 March 2010
EPIM is the European Programme for Integration and Migration, initiated in 2005 by a group of foundations from different European countries. It aims to strengthen the role played by NGOs active on migration and integration issues in advocating for a European agenda that benefits migrants and host communities, in both sending and receiving countries. Following the successful first phase of the programme, and building on the lessons learned, the second phase of EPIM is now under implementation. This second phase takes a broader perspective and runs from 2008 until 2011. Grants have been made available to 15 NGOs through a first call for proposals in 2008. A second call is now open for proposals emanating from existing Pan-European platforms and networks, or NGOs operating at the European level, for short term projects lasting between 12 and 18 months.
EPIM aims at strengthening and balancing the programme in between its 3 current focus areas: the role of media in integration; mainstreaming of migrants' voices to involve them in developing and implementing policy as active participants in the governance process and public life; access to fundamental rights, services and justice for undocumented migrants because they represent one of the most vulnerable groups of migrants. Besides, all projects will have to insist on the role of the host community in encouraging and supporting integration. This second call is open for existing Pan-European Non-Governmental Organisations, Platforms or NGOs operating at the European level which demonstrate that they will consult with and disseminate to organisations working at national level in order to enhance partnerships and links across member states.
