Iranian Artists at the XIV Women Biennial 2010 � Veiled Memories. Ferrara, 18 April to 13 June 2010
"Veiled Memories. Contemporary Art from Iran" is the collective exhibition at the XIV Women Biennial in Ferrara, Italy, organized by Unione Donna in collaboration with the Modern and Contemporary Art Gallery and the Museum of Antiquity, scheduled from April 18 to June 13 at the Pavilion of Contemporary Art in Ferrara. The exhibition traces the experience of six internationally known Iranian artists: Shirin Fakhim, Ghazel, Firouzeh Khosrovani, Shadi Ghadirian, Mandana Moghaddam and Parastou Forouhar. The exhibition opens a split on a country poised between desire for innovation and will to preserve cultural and religious Muslim traditions. The look is that of six brave women from different paths: among them there are those who decided to stay in Iran for years and who has chosen the exile. Their reflections are offered in a wide variety of expressive languages, from installation to video-art, from photography, to site-specific works.
