Impossible sites, comparisons between cultures, provocations: Out-of-the-box’s new website
The new website of the project "Out of the box", winner of 2010 ‘Lost in Translation’ contest is now online. The contest, devoted to Art and Intercultural issues, was sponsored by Connecting Cultures in collaboration with Ismu and sponsored by PaBAAC - General Directorate for heritage, fine arts, architecture and contemporary art.
The project is curated by the collective "Impossible Sites dans la rue", with Islands Association; it represents a confrontation and encounter between Italy and italies, between culture and cultures, between languages and parlances. It provokes the landscape, creating an exchange between different linguistic, geographic and personal areas - using a new level of investigation of the relationships existing between them. Actively involving citizens, the project creates a bridge between the cultural and geographical context of Piana degli Albanesi in Sicily, and the Sicilian context; a bridge between the Sicilian context, and the national and international context. Using innovative search tools, cross-and supra, it designs landscapes of impossible places and gives them back to the citizens through national and international photography tales, public postings, conferences and exhibitions.
