A new gate for Belgrade: a competition for young architects and engineers - deadline on the 12th of September
The Italian Embassy and the Italian Cultural Institute in Serbia, in co-operation with the City of Belgrade, launched a competition for young architects and engineers from Serbia, Montenegro and from Italy. The competition, organised by the Architect Association of Rome and that of Serbia, is intended for gathering ideas and projects for the urban and architectural re-building of a surrounding area of the city, and specifically the area entering the city centre from the international airport (known as Mostar junction). Participant architects are requested to design a new face for the “new gate” of a city looking forward the future, a gate corresponding to the real aspirations of the Country, towards a successful integration and co-operation within Europe. Moreover, the competition will be an opportunity to promote architecture and urban design, to open a debate on Belgrade’s role in Europe and to gather young Italian and Serbian architects together, discussing on this shared issue and fostering the existing collaboration between the two Countries. Participants, regardless from their profession (architects, engineers, alone or in group with artists and/or technicians), must all be under 40 by the deadline (12 May 2005).
