Europoly at Europe Day in Italy: Milan,
Mazda Palace, 9 May 2006
Europoly, the artistic project by Dejan
Kaludjerovic (Serbia), will be presented at Europe Day in Milan. The
artist has been in 2005 resident at UNIDEE - University of the Ideas,
where he developed the Europoly project, with the collaboration and
support of Love Difference. Europe Day in Italy, which is celebrated
every year on May 9, is an initiative of the European Parliament Office
in Milan, the Education and Job Councellor of the City of Milan, and
the Lombardy Region. At its fourth edition, the festival has become
by now a yearly meeting between young people from the region, thanks
to the creation of a net of schools supporting the organisation. The
European Commission declared 2006 "European Year of workers’
mobility". For the first time a "European Year" is
dedicated to these two fundamental concepts for the citizens of the
continent, above all for young people: mobility and job.
The choice to present at Europe Day the work by Dejan Kaludjerovic
is therefore not occasional. Europoly is in fact an artistic installation,
but above all it is a way to reflect and to make to think of a question
of grat topical interest, such as migratory flows within the territory
of the European Union. The artist worked on the shape and concept
of one of most famous table games, Monopoly, to carry out his creative
idea.
