Mobility in the Euromed space: Cimetta Fund organises in Morocco the “Assises” of mobility (May 11-14)
In the frame of the Year in Mobility of the European Union, the Roberto Cimetta Fund organises in partnership with the French Embassy in Morrocco and the French Institute in Fès-Meknès the «Assises» of mobility in the Euromed space (Fès, 11-14 May 2006), in order to have a structured and shared think tank on the concept of mobility in the Euromed space: mobility of artists, mobility of works, mobility of cultural operators.
At a political level, mobility is a key word in the EU, it is one of the factors building a mutual and shared culture. Mobility is definitely a key component of the European cultural development.
However in the Euromed space, the reality is different. The mobility of cultural professionals faces many difficulties, due to economical factors (travel costs) and political aspects (visas) but also to a lack of communication and awareness of opportunities the professionals could benefit from. In this region where networking in the cultural sector is really at the beginning, lots of independent actors of the cultural field are quite isolated and they have little access to information on international programs. The Roberto Cimetta Fund wishes to share its experience with stakeholders which also have developed actions and programs towards mobility or cultural development in the cultural field. The objective is to diffuse good practices and to define policy guidelines to support mobility of artists, works and operators in the Euromed space, in order to propose a framework of priorities and strategies to support mobility.
