Festival dei Popoli 47th edition: Florence, 1-7 December 2006
This year's Festival dei Popoli – the long established international festival of documentary cinema chaired by Giorgio Bonsanti and directed by Mario Simondi – again has a rich programme focusing on present-day issues. The many films featured as well as the guests and variety of sections testify to the vitality of the Festival and its attentiveness to cinema from all over the world. Now at its 47th edition, the Festival aims to provide a broad panorama of documentary cinema by illustrating its many aspects and its infinite capacity to tell reality like it is through images of peoples and countries, portraits of men and women, stories from every corner of the globe. Furthermore, the Festival has always asked questions about different realities - often ignored by the big screen – to encourage debate and confrontation, analysis and dialogue, to let the public interact with experts in the field, documentary film makers and personalities from the world of show-business. In the present edition, special sections for Art, Music, Urban Design and Architecture.
