Kenotaphs in their basic meaning are memorials of fallen heroes which are buried in foreign earth, stones on an empty grave. In summer 2007, within the period of August 25th and September 1st, Artscenico and the festival Off Limits will cooperate to create a competition for "short cuts" dealing with anniversaries of dead artists.
Between the “first move of Elvis’ pelvis” 50 years ago and the 101st birthday of Samuel Beckett there are lots of variations of memories of the dead performers and other artists.
The main theme of the festival is “refuge”. That includes reflections on heritage and legacy, in dealing with death and the dead. Dancers, actors, directors, performers and other artists are asked to have a close look at the works of dead artists. The pieces should be between 1 and 15 minutes.
