Musik für Kunst: “Every space
needs a sound”. Bologna-Parma, 18-30 May 2007
Musik für Kunst, curated by Chiara Cardinali,
is a travelling sound project that invites musicians to compose and
collaborate together in many places. The artists will produce sounds
that are conceived from their inspiration, connected with the location
that will host them, in order to build a relation sound-space. The
composition can be a work in progress or an improvised, extempore
one; it can be presented as single, independent work or it can be
enriched with sounds produced from others or with some of different
artistic fields. The common feature of all the sound interventions
is the relation between sound and space; in the first stage of the
project, the artists are invited to compose and play in a gallery
(Galleria Neon, Bologna) and in a club(VeroniKa club, Parma), in order
to recreate sounds and visions that these locations, which are predisposed
to creativity, evoke. The spaces, in this sense, become a sort of
containers for art and, at the same time, objects of inspiration for
creating art. In the moment of its performing in front of the audience
every composition is at the same time recorded. Every artist, then,
will have access to the sounds in order to manipulate them and include
them in the following compositions.
The sharing of data and the consequent manipulation of them follows
the philosophy of the free software: giving free access to data of
free property, which can be used and modified by other people. Every
performance becomes part of a project that is infinitely extendible,
that grows from several steps, carrying the sounds that represent
also the places where they were, in order to build a space-music route.
