Arte Continua Arte x Vino = Acqua
[Art x Wine = Water]
Arte x Vino = Acqua got presented within the sphere of the 8th
edition of Arte all’Arte, an initiative that got linked to the UN
campaign announced for 2003, world-wide year of water.
The aim of the project is the realization of water installations
that produce drinking water in areas of the planet which are especially
problematic.
The chosen sites are located in Brazil, Palestine and Israel, where the
association collaborates with the Toscana Region; Burkina Faso and Indionesia,
where the association has directly contacted the beneficiaries of the water
installations.
On saturday, 22nd of november, 10.30 am, at the Santa Maria
della Scala di Siena museum complex, the first part of the beneficary sale
was held. Six wines from the Siena Region were on sale, chosen by the chef
Antonello Colonna, and their labels were designed by six artists, who had
been invited by the director of the Tata Modern, Vincente Todoli.
The invited artists were Lothar Baumgarten, Richard Hamilton, Roni Horn,
Cildo Meireles, Gilberto Zorio, and Michelangelo Pistoletto realized the
label Love Difference for the Brunello de Il Poggione.
The producers provided 500 bottles of wine: the Nobile di Montepulciano
by Avignonesi, the Summus by Banfi, the Chianti Classico by Castello di
Ama, the Luenzo by Cesani, the Vernaccia Riserva di San Gimignano by Panizzi
and precisely the Brunello by Il Poggione.
Every case got sold starting from the symbolic value of 1000€ for six
bottles with numbered and signed artists' labels. The labels got produced
by Tonutti Tecniche Grafiche SpA and were given to the project as a donation.
The publishing house Gli Ori was the partner of the project for the events
taking place in London and New York during the year 2004.
The sales turnout has been transferred completely to the
financing of the water installations. The cases that did not get sold were
given to the producers, artists and the curators, who will distibute them
personally and will therefore be mediators to sensibilize the public for
the problem of the shortage of water.
