Project promoted by Love Difference
Bledi a possible scenario, by Katia Kameli (Franco- Algerian artist
and filmmaker), is the provisional title of a group of projects launched
by the artist after a journey to Algeria.
‘Bledi’ is a documentary film played over the many layers of
Algerian reality. The eye behind the viewfinder is the director's as she
goes over her past searching for a chance for change.
The journey begins at Marseilles with the departure of the mythical ship
‘Méditerranée’ and unfolds along with the thoughts,
memories, and past and future expectations of Algerian émigrés
coming back to their homeland. On arrival, attention is centred on everyday
living,
especially on the condition of women and the new generations. Workshop ‘Tournage/
Montage Alger’: during the filming of ‘Bledi'’ the artist
met students of Political Science and Journalism from the Ben Aknoun University,
and art students from Algiers Academy who
confided to her their disagreement with the images portraying their country
abroad.
Lack of training and audio-visual materials prevents students from expressing
their points of view on the situation in Algeria. A proposal emerged from
this discussion to set up a workshop on the image and its applications in
order to stimulate an exchange of ideas on the audio-visual medium, the
idea being to give students the chance of expressing their thoughts and
ideas on Algerian identity.
