Film Commission stops foreign film in Egypt
Al-Ahram Hebdo, Egyptian on-line weekly news, reports that the State Film Commission of Egypt decided to forbid, for the summer season, the projection of foreign films. The decision has caused strong reactions in the Country, reported by newspapers and tv. The Commission’s aim was that of strengthening the national film industry and its interests. On the other hand, film distribution companies declared the provision was taken completely without information: the reality, they say, is that Egypt is facing another interference of the Government, attempting in the last few years to control Egyptian film industry.
