Cross-roads eyes: from September 15 in Turin, a survey of films and meetings on migration roads
Fieri – International and European Forum for Research on Immigration – set in Turin (Italy), is organising a survey of movies and documentary films investigating old and new migrations. Cross-roads eyes will run every Thursday from September 15 to October 20, 2005 at Cinema Teatro Bartetti in Turin – free entrance. First projection will be Un confine di specchi (A mirror border), by Stefano Savona, on the 15th of September: following a group of Tunisian fishermen along the course of the ship "Prometeo", between La Goulette (Tunisia) and Mazara del Vallo (Sicily), the film is a journey backwards in the life of today and yesterday fishermen. The “mirror border” is the Mediterranean Sea, which separates the Sicilian coasts from the Tunisian ones: a border that divides, joins, removes approaches. After the film, a meeting with Marinette Pendola, author of the book The far banks (Sellerio, 2000).
