The second documentary film of the Trans:it project
The European cultural project Trans:it Moving Culture through Europe was launched by Olivetti Foundation in 2003 and a pluriennial development is planned.
Trans:it aims to foster reflection on artistic experiments on the territory from a geocultural perspective. In this framework the interventions of the artists focus on the transformations and expectations that derive from the impulses and problems of the context in which the projects are developed. The number of organisations and institutions collaborating in the project is continuously expanding. The partners are involved in all the stages of the project, such as definition of the itinerary and the projects considered in the web site and documentary films. In the summer of 2004, the second documentary film in the cycle of the Trans:it project has been produced: Fluid Cities. Berlin to Istanbul. The film is intended to document and present socially relevant cultural projects and new practices in artistic intervention carried out in urban and suburban territories along an itinerary that begins in Berlin and ends up in Istanbul, passing through some of the most important cities in Eastern Europe and the Balkans. Along this road, artists, architects, sociologists and intellectuals of various extraction will meet and discuss projects and endeavours that utilise creativity as an instrument for dealing with the difficult challenges of defining collective life in an urban context and the idea of public space. In this area the projects examined focus on questions related to the process of enlargement of the European Union, and the countries of the Balkan area. The main issues to be dealt with are the question of geographical and cultural borders, the search for a yet-to-be-defined European identity, the contrast between different histories, the conception of a new European cultural space, hopes and fears, future cohabitation.

Il secondo documentario del progetto Trans:it
Il progetto culturale europeo Trans:it Moving Culture through Europe è stato lanciato nel 2003 dalla Fondazione Olivetti e prevede uno sviluppo pluriennale.Trans:it si prefigge di incoraggiare la riflessione sugli esperimenti artistici sul territorio da una prospettiva geoculturale. Gli interventi degli artisti si concentrano sulle trasformazioni e sulle aspettative che derivano dagli impulsi e dalle problematiche del contesto in cui i progetti vengono sviluppati. Il numero delle organizzazioni e istituzioni che collaborano al progetto è in continuo aumento. I partners sono coinvolti in tutte le fasi del progetto, come la definizione dell’itinerario e i progetti da considerare nel sito web e nei documentari. Nell’estate 2004 è stato prodotto il secondo documentario del ciclo del progetto Trans:it: Fluid Cities. Berlin to Istanbul. Il film vuole documentare e presentare i progetti culturali rilevanti dal punto di vista sociale e le nuove iniziative di intervento artistico realizzate in territori urbani e suburbani lungo un itinerario che inizia a Berlino e termina a Istanbul, passando attraverso alcune tra le più importanti città dell’Europa orientale e dei Balcani. Lungo questa strada artisti, architetti, sociologi e intellettuali di varia estrazione si incontrano e discutono dei progetti e dei tentativi che utilizzano la creatività come strumento per trattare con le difficili sfide della definizione della vita collettiva in un contesto urbano e dell’idea di spazio pubblico. In quest’area i progetti esaminati si concentreranno su questioni relative al processo di allargamento dell’Unione Europea e i paesi dell’area balcanica. Le questioni principali da affrontare sono la questione dei confini geografici e culturali, la ricerca di un’identità europea ancora da definire, il contrasto tra storie differenti, la concezione di un nuovo spazio culturale europeo, speranze e paure, futura coabitazione.
