Love it or leave it gets part of
Balkans Trilogy. Kassel-Cetinje-Kassel:a road to the open dialogue between the Balkans and Western Europe. With the project entitled "Balkans Trilogy", executed over the course of one year, the Kunsthalle Fridericianum has initiated a new, far-reaching discourse around the current artistic and institutional developments in Southeastern Europe. As numerous cultural projects have recently established, Southeastern Europe stands at the centre of a wide range of interests. The Balkans are being discovered again – although to what extent can a Western perspective provide an authentic and honest portrait of the region? With this in mind, the "Balkans Trilogy", was conceived to establish a platform for an open dialogue between the Balkans and Western Europe while encouraging avenues of communication between Southeast-European countries themselves. The "Balkans Trilogy" project started in Kassel with the exhibition "In the Gorges of the Balkans" in 2003. LOVE IT OR LEAVE IT is culmination point of a new model for a unique European cooperation: curated by René Block, Kassel, and Natasa Ilic, Zagreb, Cetinje Biennial V is realized as part of "In the cities of the Balkans"- 2nd part of the "Balkans Trilogy", the project initiated by the Kunsthalle Fridericianum. Cetinje Biennial V LOVE IT OR LEAVE IT (July 17 - September 19, 2004), realized by the National museum of Montenegro in cooperation with the Kunsthalle Fridericianum, presented 80 artistic positions from South-Eastern Europe and the Middle East. Satellite projects in Dubrovnik/Croatia and Tirana/Albania furthermore implied a unique cross-national activity. Concluding this extensive project, the Kunsthalle Fridericianum ended with "Balkan Trilogy #3", presenting the exhibitions "Mangelos nos. 1 – 9 ½", "Marjetica Potrc: summerhouse" and "Jasmila Zbanic: we light the night" (Kunsthalle Fridericianum, Kassel, May 20 - September 19, 2004). www.fridericianum-kassel.de

tra i Balcani e l'Europa occidentaleCon il progetto intitolato "Balkans Trilogy", svoltosi nel corso di un anno, la Kunsthalle Fridericianum di Kassel ha inaugurato un nuovo discorso sugli sviluppi artistici ed istituzionali nel Sud-Est dell’Europa. Come dimostrano i numerosi progetti culturali recentemente intrapresi, il Sud-est europeo rappresenta il centro di un vasto raggio di interessi. I Balcani cominciano ad essere riscoperti - sebbene la domanda sia fino a che punto possa una prospettiva occidentale fornire un autentico ritratto della regione ? Avendo ciò ben chiaro, "Balkans Trilogy" è stata concepita per stabilire una piattaforma di partenza per un dialogo aperto tra i Balcani e l'Europa occidentale, incoraggiando vie di comunicazione tra i paesi stessi del Sud-est europeo. Il progetto "Balkans Trilogy" è partito a Kassel nel 2003 con la mostra "In the Gorges of the Balkans". LOVE IT OR LEAVE IT è il culmine di un nuovo modello per una cooperazione europea unica: curata da René Block, Kassel, e Natasa Ilic, Zagabria, la V Biennale di Cetinje è stata realizzata come parte di "In the cities of the Balkans"- Seconda parte della "Balkans Trilogy", il progetto iniziato dalla Kunsthalle Fridericianum. La V Biennale di Cetinje LOVE IT OR LEAVE IT (17 Luglio - 19 Settembre 2004), realizzata dal National Museum of Montenegro in cooperazione con la Kunsthalle Fridericianum, ha presentato 80 artisti dall'Europa sud-orientale e dal Medio-Oriente. I progetti satellite a Dubrovnik/Croatia e Tirana/Albania hanno poi implicato un'eccezionale attività extra-nazionale.
