Filippo Fabbrica and Sonja Linke from Love Difference are
participating at the Civil Society Platform for Intercultural Dialogue.
This platform is an initiative promoted by the European Cultural Foundation
together with Culture Action Europe, supported by the Network of European
Foundations, that aims to create a strong 'civil society' voice which will
actively feed into the European Year of Intercultural Dialogue 2008.
So far, over 80 organizations across various sectors as arts, migration,
human rights, education, youth have responded to the invitation to join
this initiative. The platform aims to: heighten the impact and effectiveness
of the European Year of Intercultural Dialogue, share concepts and practice
of intercultural dialogue, work towards integrated strategies for intercultural
dialogue, mobilize the sector to have a voice, contribute to policy analysis
and development and influence cultural policy-making.
The platform meets since November 2006 to discuss the next
steps that have to be taken. From the 19th to the 21st of October 2007 they
met in Cittadellarte to discuss about the "Rainbow Paper on Intercultural
Dialogue", paper that points out the different aspects of the Intercultural
Dialogue in Europe and develops actions to promote and strength this Dialogue.
The Platform aims, trough this document, to coordinate and promote a network
and a research about the Intercultural Dialogue in Europe. Therefore the
Rainbow Paper is going to be presented at the opening of the Year of Intercultural
Dialogue the 7th and 8th of January in Ljubijana with the occasion of the
European Union presidency of Slovenia.

The role of Love Difference in this partnership is to promote and develop the existing network and to collaborate with concrete projects with the Intercultural Dialogue.
On the 4th of June 2008 Filippo Fabbrica from Love Difference
was at the meeting of the Rainbow Platform on Intercultural Dialogue in
Brussels where the evolution of the Rainbow Paper II was discussed in order
to shape the recommendations on intercultural dialogue (to civil society
and to the EU) into an effective tool for mobilization and advocacy.
Another side of the cooperation sees Love Difference design together with
Pietro Corraini and Stefano Caprioli, authors of the book "Manuale
di Immagine Non Coordinata" ("Manual of Non-coordinated Image)
and the artist Margarita Vazquez Ponte the new logo of the Civil Society
Platform for Intercultural Dialogue.
For this reason Pietro Corraini, Stefano Caprioli and Margarita Vazquez
Ponte met in Fondazione Pistoletto in order to create a logo, that would
reflect the platform as a dynamic, moving and creative entity.
The logo
The letters of the different alphabets are the cultural
expression of the populations that use them. Therefore, the platform,
starting point of the intercultural dialogue, includes graphically
every culture of the planet.
The tree is a growing and developing living being, its branching out is a
metaphor for the construction of the dialogue.
Rainbow colors do not identify with any culture in particular. They are
perfect to color our tree, whose letters represent all cultures.
This logo is absolutely interactive and changeable in every application
by:
- constructing each time a different tree form
- inserting new letters and creating your own texture of characters
- coloring the texture, even with different shades
The logo itself is graphically sufficiently complex. So the font
for RAINBOW PLATFORM logotype is DIN, a simple easy to read and
well framed character.
