L’altro Mediterraneo: curated by Valentina Colombo a new anthology of Arabic writers
Mondadori (editor) has recently published in Italy a new anthology of Arabic writers, curated by Valentina Colombo, Professor of Arabic language and Literature at Tuscia University (Viterbo, Italy). Professor Colombo, who also translated the writings from the original Arabic, chose passages from both famous authors (such as Gibran and the Nobel Prize awarded Mahfuz), and young writers, completely unknown in Italy. We find a sum of 25 authors, from Egypt to Yemen. The anthology draws a picture of a complex Mediterranean area, strongly marked by the wish of confrontation, especially with the reality of the northern side of the basin.
